Moving to London!
If you couldn’t tell by the title of this post, in less than a week, I will be making a move to the magnificent city of London from New York! The reason I will be moving there is to attend graduate school and I am so so SO excited to be spending at least the next year in one of my favorite cities in the world! This major choice was a huge decision for me and one that I have been thinking about for about 2 years since I found out a good friend of mine decided to get her degree out there. The more I learned about it and thought about it, the more it made complete and total sense for me to take the plunge and go and so for anyone out there thinking of doing the same thing, here are some of the main reasons why I choose to do it:
1.Much Cheaper and shorter than a Master’s Degree in the US: Whenever i told people this, they were extremely surprised, but the truth is getting a master’s degree abroad is considerably less for most programs compared to the U.S ( up to 50% less or more in some cases!). Also most master’s programs are only a year so you also save on the time it takes to complete a degree. While this isn’t the case for all degrees, it is the case for many many programs in the UK.
2.No Entrance Exams/ Application Fees: Again, this is not the case for all programs in the UK, but for many courses and schools the GMAT and the GRE exams are not required to get into the school, which was a huge plus for me because I was working full time when I applied, which would have meant some serious balancing if I were to take those exams, not to mention the costs I saved by not having to pay for prep courses or the exams themselves. Most schools in the UK do not have application fees which was another great plus!
3.Travel: I haven’t done much traveling outside of the US, so getting the opportunity to travel was a huge factor in me going to London. So many amazing countries are so close to the city and flights can be as cheap as $45 bucks! I will most definitely be posting all of my travels so stay tuned for that this Fall/Winter and through next year!
4.Self-growth: Moving far away from home will undoubtedly allow me to change and evolve in great ways and I am excited to learn more about myself. I will have to get used to a whole new environment where I don’t really know many people at all and adapt to a new way of living. I know it will be a tremendous journey and I am so happy that I am choosing to take this path.
For anyone out there considering doing a master’s degree, I highly recommend checking out programs abroad because it could truly be an experience of a life -time! I cannot wait to document all of my travels and experiences abroad on this blog as well as my usual beauty/fashion posts as well! If you guys are interested in learning more about the actual process of applying/visas/ etc, leave a comment below and I may do a follow-up post outlining more about it! xo
