Dealing with Life Changes

Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!! On top on feeling super festivey today, I also am in the midst of a huge transition period in my life and feel the need to have a little chat in hopes that it will help someone else also going through some life changes. Going through huge change is never completely comfortable so here are three ways that I prepared myself for it to make it as smooth as possible:

  1. Plan like a mad woman: Making tons of plans is one of the main ways I deal with a big life change and I am one for carrying around a collection of notebooks with me that I am able to get to whenever new ideas strike me. I wrote about goal setting and how it is super important for setting up yourself for a great year, but this of course can be applied to major life changes. Try to map out what your new routine will look, some of the places and events you will go to in order to help settle any nerves and feel more secure in what is to come. Of course plans can change and it is important to be flexible, but having them in place is something that has always helped me when I go through big changes.
  2. Get super excited for all the plans you just made: Once you have made your plans, instead of beginning to freak out and wonder if they are any good, which is a high possibility if you are going through lots of changes, you just have to psych yourself out. Just give yourself a pat on the back for taking control of your life and start to imagine how great your new life is going to be. Staying positive and having compassion for yourself is always a good idea.
  3. Get to executing: Now if you can start to execute on your plans and ideas even before you fully make your life transition, even better! Assuming position in your new life before it even starts will lessen the blow of the unfamiliar and help make an easier transition. This will help to set yourself up to have smooth sailing into the new awesomeness that will be your life. xo
